 
                          
                  
Kohima, May 29 (DIPR): Schools Assessment Project on ‘Quality Education and Student Development in Nagaland’ under capacity building was launched today with the Additional Secretary for School Education, Bendangkokba as the chief guest and Chairman NBSE, Nini Meru as guest of honor.
Delivering his speech during the launching programme at the NBSE conference hall, Bendangkokba said to bring quality education in our state, it is not only the job of Education Department, Schools and Teachers but it requires mass involvement and efforts of every NGOs, civil societies and parents. He said that time has come to review the system and try to change the policy and further encourage capital investment in the field of education to bring about quality education.
Earlier the chief guest unveiled the Project Guidelines and Assessment Criteria. Expressing his gratitude to the Mayangnokcha Award Trust (MAT) for organizing and initiating the project, he said that the initiative taken by the MAT is a positive move and assured that the Department will fully support their initiative and encouraged them to go forward with confidence to benefit the State and society at large.
The Schools Assessment Project, to be carried out by the Mayangnokcha Award Trust will assess schools in the three districts of Kohima, Dimapur and Mokokchung and other related authorities like the NBSE, SCERT, Department of School Education etc as per the guidelines and criteria released today and grade them accordingly for the knowledge of the authorities, the schools themselves and the public at large.
Stating that ‘we Nagas don’t like to be assessed unless sure of getting a perfect 10’ Chairman NBSE, Nini Meru said that unless we assess, we won’t know where we stand. She urged all the schools in Dimapur, Kohima and Mokokchung to volunteer to be assessed to know where they stand and improve themselves. She also thanked the MAT for encouraging students from the NBSE Board.
Project Coordinator, Er. Moa Aier (Trustee) presented a project report on MAT activities. The programme was chaired by President, MAT, Dr. Imomanen who also delivered the introduction and welcome address. The launching programme was followed by an interaction among the participants.
