Mokokchung, July 21 (MExN): In a major jolt to the Indian National Congress in Nagaland, 61 office bearers and workers of the party from Mokokchung district have submitted their en masse resignation from all posts and primary membership, citing “autocratic functioning” and “mismanagement” by the NPCC leadership.
The resignations, submitted to the AICC President, include NPCC and DCC officials, Youth and Mahila leaders, Minority Department chairman, Seva Dal chief organiser, advisors, and active executive members.
In their resignation letter, the signatories alleged that the NPCC leadership's actions over the past few months have led to “widespread chaos, confusion and divisions” among the rank and file, while ignoring dedicated workers and creating “an environment of mistrust and factionalism.”
The dissidents said they remained loyal to the party even during its near-extinction in 2015, but can “no longer remain silent spectators to the destruction of the party organization” in the district and state.
The resignations come as a fresh blow to the Congress party in Nagaland, where it has been struggling to regain its foothold.
