DIMAPUR, MAY 21 (MExN): The ‘Co-ordination Committee of Concern Naga Tribal Leaders’ has reiterated its stand to organise a “common platform of Naga tribes in Nagaland State” to “pursue common goals and objectives.” A press note by Theja Therieh, Secretary of the Committee stated that it is “overwhelmed by the spontaneous responses from different sections of people expressing their desire to represent and be represented in voicing its aspirations and opinions at all levels and to maintain cordial relationships with all like-minded people.”
The Committee has invited all concerned Nagaland tribal leaders to attend the consultative meeting scheduled on May 25 at Hotel Saramati, Dimapur at 10:00 am. The Committee requested the tribal organisations to extend their good will and participate with at least 3 delegates. The note informed that this is a continuation of the previous meeting held on May 10 in Kohima, where it was “unanimously decided to press the state Government to review its Notification, dated Kohima, August 4, 2012, recognising the Rongmei Naga tribe as schedule tribe of Nagaland State and to oppose all such attempt to further recognise any other tribes from outside the state of Nagaland.”
