Mokokchung, January 14 (MExN): The MDCA Inter Club T20 Cricket Tournament played at Imkongmeren Sporting Complex on Saturday saw Trebuchet qualifying for the quarterfinals while Suzerain and Jovial played out an exhilarating match which ended in a tie. In the first match of the day, a half century from Imliakum helped Trebuchet beat Longmiasang by 44 runs. Trebuchet scored 150/3 in 20 overs with Imliakum scoring 50. Longmiasang's Longsen picked 2/20. Chasing the target, Longmiasang could manage only 106/9 in 20 overs. Merenkaba and Wapangtoshi picked 3 wickets each for Trebuchet. In the second match, Jovial and Suzerain played out perhaps the most exciting match of the tournament so far. In the end though, both the teams settled for a point each after the matched ended in a draw. Jovial batting first scored 120/1 in 20 overs with Meyameren scoring an unbeaten 69 runs. Temsulong of Suzerain picked the only wicket to fall in the inning. Chasing the target, Suzerain were cruising well and looked like they would walk away with the match easily. However, a loss of nerve towards the end of the innings saw the last 3 wickets fall for 3 runs. Suzerain were bowled out for 120 in 19.1 overs with scores level. Imsusupong top scored with 54 runs while Odiyanger picked 3/22. With this result, Jovial are eliminated from the Tournament while Suzerain have the chance to qualify for the next stages if Rainbow beat Zero Boys A on Monday. With only 2 match remaining in the League stages, the tournament so far has seen 8 fifties from the 17 matches played (2 matches were cancelled) with one hat-trick. Titans score of 174 against DC XI remains the highest total of the tournament while Sovran’s 69 against Tuli ADC XI is the lowest total. Akumdong of Titans leads the run scoring with 109 runs while Along of Zero Boys is the leading wicket taker with 11 wickets.
