Morung Express News Mangkolemba | December 2 Continuing its Silver Jubilee preparatory affairs, the Mokokchung District Cricket Association (MDCA) today successfully played its second exhibition match with ADC Mangkolemba XI at Kumpani Ground here today. The exhibition matches being initiated by the MDCA are being played on the theme “Instilling Aspirations” with an aim to promote cricket and to highlight the successes and milestones of the Cricket Association. In an exciting and evenly contested match between the two teams, the MDCA XI ultimately emerged the victors by beating theirs opponents by 29 runs. Electing to bat first after winning the toss, the MDCA XI started their inning slowly. However, as the middle order batsmen took charge, the game shifted to the advantage of the visitors as batsman Meyazungba hit the ball to all corners of the ground and scored a total of 38 runs; the highest run scored by an individual in the match. The ADC Mangkolemba XI also tormented the visitors especially with their star bowler Kika who took four wickets. He took three wickets in one over thereby balancing the match to some extent. But the visitors finished their twenty over inning with a comfortable 147 runs for the loss of nine wickets. ADC Mangkolemba XI run-chase started off in the worse manner possible as they lost wickets cheaply in the first five overs. Some superb display of bowling by Sachin and immaculate fielding during the first ten overs put the home team in a tight corner. However, with the entry of the middle order batsmen, with some boundaries and sixes, the scorecard for the home team seemed to improve. But, veteran MDCA player, Talikaba started blowing and wrecked havoc as he took four wickets, some of them, very crucial ones. As the remaining overs depleted, the home team had to be content with 118/9 conceding the game to the visitors who won by 29 runs. Meyazungba of MDCA XI (highest run scorer) and Longkitsung of ADC Mangkolemba XI were jointly adjudged the men of the match. Meanwhile, the Mangkolemba ADC, Imtiwapang Aier expressed happiness for playing the exhibition match at Mangkolemba and at the same time congratulated the MDCA for achieving its 25th year milestone.
