On the second day of the MDFA Trophy 2024, Super Seniors, widely regarded as the tournament favorites, showcased their dominance with a commanding 6-1 victory over Sports Society Soyim (SSS) in the day’s opening match.

The scoring spree began in the 21st minute when Pursunep found the back of the net, followed by a stunning free-kick from Nythung just three minutes later, putting Super Seniors up 2-0.

Despite a few promising chances, SSS couldn’t capitalize, with two key opportunities inside the box going to waste before the halftime whistle. The second half saw Super Seniors further assert their control, with Temjenmeren and Thejasetuo netting goals in the 59th and 64th minutes, respectively. Thejasetuo continued his fine form, adding two more goals in quick succession in the 80th and 84th minutes, securing his hat-trick — the second of the tournament.

SSS managed to salvage some pride in the final moments, as Osen scored a consolation goal in the 90th minute, giving their supporters something to celebrate in an otherwise one-sided affair.

In an action-packed clash between NU Lumami and Eastern Wings, fans were treated to a thrilling encounter that saw NU Lumami secure a 4-1 victory after a stunning second-half comeback. Eastern Wings scored the first goal in the 35th minute by Khouz Khiamniungan, giving them a deserved lead after dominating much of the first half.

In the second half NU Lumami responded swiftly, with Atong Wangsa equalizing in the 53rd minute and just seven minutes later, M Phaowang scored another goal, putting NU Lumami ahead. Pranjal Dhatumia added a third in the 67th minute, giving NU Lumami breathing space.

Neilie sealed the deal for NU Lumami with a fourth goal in the 86th minute, completing a well-rounded performance from NU Lumami, who finished the match with a resounding 4-1 victory.
