Day 3 of the MDFA Trophy 2024 saw a commanding display from defending champions Telongjem FC, who crushed Amokmulu SC with a staggering 6-1 victory.
The match kicked off with a bang as Sujimong scored a penalty in the 3rd minute, setting the tone for Telongjem’s dominance. Just five minutes later, Sentimongba added to the scoreline, netting another goal in the 8th minute to make it 2-0. The relentless pressure continued, culminating in Japhet Kath’s goal in the 42nd minute, further extending Telongjem’s lead to 3-0 before halftime.
In the second half, Menguzelie Rutsa showcased his skills, scoring two goals in quick succession at the 65th and 86th minutes, pushing the score to 5-0. Although Amokmulu SC managed to find some consolation when John Homing netted their only goal in the 88th minute, Telongjem responded instantly. Keyipuakleube capped off the dominating performance with a goal in stoppage time, sealing the 6-1 rout.
In the day’s second match, Moanungsang Memorial Sporting Club (MMSC) pulled off a stunning comeback against DEF, overcoming a two-goal deficit to win 4-2.
The first half was tightly contested until Hainsihgonba broke the deadlock for DEF in the 41st minute, giving them a 1-0 advantage. The second half continued in a similar vein until Muluvoto doubled DEF’s lead just two minutes into the half, making it 2-0.
However, MMSC roared back, with Opangtemjen igniting the comeback by scoring in the 53rd minute to reduce the deficit to 2-1. The momentum shifted dramatically as Nungsangtoshi leveled the score at 2-2 in the 69th minute. Just six minutes later, Nungsangtoshi struck again to put MMSC ahead for the first time, followed quickly by Opangtemjen securing his brace in the 76th minute, bringing the final score to 4-2.
