The second day of the 27th Mokokchung District Football Association (MDFA) Trophy 2025 on October 15 witnessed a display of power and precision as Telongjem FC and Thunderbolt FC registered convincing victories in their respective matches at the Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung.
In the first match of the day, three-time consecutive champions Telongjem FC began their campaign in style with a commanding 3–0 win over Super Seniors FC, a team comprising veteran players from Mokokchung.
Telongjem’s Singdulien Khongsai opened the scoring in the 17th minute. He doubled the lead in the 30th minute, showcasing sharp finishing inside the box.
Just four minutes later, Tarepnungsang added a third goal in the 34th minute, sealing the game before halftime.
With league matches played over 35 minutes per half, the second half saw Telongjem comfortably control possession while Super Seniors FC struggled to mount a comeback.

Despite their experience, the veteran side, comprising mostly players above 35 years of age, found it difficult to keep up with the pace and energy of the younger Telongjem squad. The match ended 3–0, giving Telongjem FC a strong start to their title defense campaign.
In the second fixture, newcomers Thunderbolt FC marked their tournament debut with a solid 2–0 victory over Nagaland University Lumami (NU Lumami), the institutional invitee team from Zunheboto.
Thunderbolt’s Shaomi broke the deadlock in the 10th minute, putting his team ahead early. Despite several chances from NU Lumami, they failed to capitalize, ending the first half trailing 0–1. The second half saw NU pressing hard for an equalizer but lacking precision in the final third.
In the 62nd minute, Phopang Jolim extended Thunderbolt’s lead with a fine strike, ensuring all three points for the debutants. The final whistle confirmed a 2–0 win, as NU Lumami suffered their first defeat of the tournament.
The Day 3 fixtures will feature Chargers FC taking on Sangpang FC, while defending champions KSUM, who suffered a narrow loss to Sports Society Soyim in their opening match, will face Team Gilgal in a crucial encounter.
