DIMAPUR, AUGUST 7 (MExN): Marking the celebration of Medümnio festival, an Open Football Tournament 2017 was kicked off on August 7 at Old Showuba village. President, Dimapur District GBs Association, Tokuho Suhoi Neho graced the inaugural function as chief guest and declared the event open. Addressing the gathering, chief guest said sports activities bring a lot of positive opportunities for the players and enhances one’s accomplishments. Sports are the way to big achievement in one’s life however depends on their active involvement and experiences they already have, he added. Tokuho was of the view that getting interested in any of the sport gives a worldwide identification and lifelong achievement and athletes having interest in the sports, play sports with their best effort even when they defeat or lose and thus they become much disciplined all through the life. Acknowledging the organisers for creating a platform for talented youngsters to not only to exhibit their talent but for people from far and near to come together, he believed that sports can unite people paving way to bring about unity and understanding among people. He stressed on clean election and said that people should uphold clean election in order to bring about reformation in the state. Invocation prayer of the opening function was said by Rev. Tochumong, pastor SBC. Introduction and presentation was done by Jangpuh Kihomong, president SSU. Keorun Jangru, VCC Old Showuba delivered welcome address. Showuba Students' Union presented cultural dances.
