Shillong, March 4 (Agencies): The Bharatiya Janata Party said on Sunday that the United Democratic Party has already extended support to the party to form government, as parties scurry to stitch up alliances for government formation.   BJP’s Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the party and its ally National People's Party were holding talks with the United Democratic Party to form the government in an attempt to keep the Congress out.   Biswa claimed that the UDP had already given them a letter of support.   “UDP has extended a support letter to us and we have discussed threadbare. It is just a matter of two hours. You will know everything. Let it unfold officially in a dignified manner,” Sarma told reporters on Sunday.   He said the party was also holding parleys with the People’s Democratic Front (PDF), and were going to meet the governor with 29 elected lawmakers at 5 pm to stake claim, adding: "That number will definitely go up".   Although there were no clear winners in the elections, Congress emerged as the single largest party with 21 seats. The NPP came a close second at 19. The UDP won six, the PDF 4 and the BJP 2.   Parties need 31 seats in the 60-member house to form government.   Congress meanwhile has also said it was confident of finding support in the UDP.
