Meghalaya COVID-19 related death toll reaches 134

Meghalaya on Sunday reported one more COVID-19 related death, taking the death toll to 134 in the state till date.

Director of Health Services (MI), Dr Aman War informed that 89 patients have also recovered from the viral infection pushing the total number of recoveries to 12,620.

He said the recovered patients include 64 from East Khasi Hills district, 7 West Garo Hills district, 6 Ri Bhoi district, 5 South West Garo Hills district, 4 East Jaintia Hills district, 2 South West Khasi Hills district and 1 East Garo Hills district.

Of 32 fresh cases detected on Sunday, he said 28 are from East Khasi Hills, 3 West Garo Hills and 1 Ri Bhoi.

Those tested positive also include 3 armed force/paramilitary force personnel, 2 health workers, 1 police personnel and 6 high risk contacts.

So far, the state has detected a total of 13,253 COVID-19 cases out of which 499 are active cases, 12,620 recovered and 134 deaths.

Of the total active cases, East Khasi Hills has 317 positive cases, West Jaintia Hills 86, Ri Bhoi 33, West Garo Hills 27, South West Garo Hills 6, East Garo Hills 10, South Garo Hills 7, West Khasi Hills 5, North Garo Hills 5 and  East Jaintia Hills 3.

South West Khasi Hills now has zero cases.
