Wokha, December 28 (MExN): The Merapani Students’ Union celebrated its 50 years jubilee with the theme “Forging a New Destiny” on December 27.
The event was graced by Achumbemo Kikon MLA and Chairman SDPDB as the chief guest, and Renben Jami Retd Director, Department of Land Resource as the guest of honour, stated a press release received here. Achumbemo Kikon also unveiled a monolith, donated by Nyamo Odyuo and Family, symbolizing the enduring legacy of the union.
The theme speaker, Zujanthung Yanthan, Associate Pastor Bhandari Town Baptist Church, delivered a message that encapsulated the essence of ‘Forging a New Destiny.’
President of Lotha Students' Union and President of Lotha Lower Range Students' Union also spoke during the occasion.
Lijamo Odyuo, the Ex-President and Jubilee Media and Publicity Convener, highlighted the pivotal role of MSU in the development of the students’ community of Merapani. He emphasised the contributions of the union in promoting peace and harmony in the volatile Merapani border, which has been crucial for the welfare of the community.
The celebrations included a series of events and activities that encompassed the spirit of ‘Forging a New Destiny.’ Other highlights were cultural performances, and also recognition and awards for individuals who have played a significant role in the growth of MSU over the years, the release added.
