Metemneo and Biam greetings

Dimapur, August 5 (MExN): The NSCN/GPRN (Akato Chophi) has conveyed Metemneo and Biam greetings to the Yimkhiung and Khiamniungan Nagas which is celebrated during August 4-8 (Metemneo) and August 7 (Biam). 

Metemneo is celebrated with much fanfare after the harvest of millet, and during this festival, Yimkhiung people also offers prayers for the departed ones, which is spread over 5 days, with each day distinctly known as – Shito, Zhinto, Zumto, Khehresuk and Sheresuk.

Biam festival is celebrated by the Khiamniungan people on August 7 where rituals are performed to reflect the rich cultural heritage of the Khiamniungan people.

“Through the celebration of these happy and meaningful festivals, may the 'Yimkhiung and Khiamniungan' people continue to thrive and excel in various fields,” MIP NSCN/GPRN (Akato Chophi) stated in a press release.
