Meth consignment intercepted in Dimapur

The Special Operations Team of Dimapur Police on Wednesday arrested two drug peddlers who had managed to cross three major police checkpoints in Khuzama, Zubza and Chümoukedima without raising suspicions.

The two persons, identified as Abdul Gaffar Khan (24) and Mh Helal Khan (30), were travelling in an Assam registered Maruti Swift when the car was intercepted by the SoT in Dimapur’s Purana Bazar area, according to official sources. 

A total of 1,00,000 yaba tablets, which is a mix of methamphetamine and caffeine, were found concealed in compartments. In the big cities, a single yaba tablet is said to be sold for anywhere between Rs 500-1000.

Sources said the drugs originated from Manipur and is suspected to have been heading towards Assam. The seizure is estimated to be worth at least Rs 5 crore.
