Naga singer Methaneilie Jutakhrie conferred the O.N.E. (Our North East) India Award 2026 at a ceremony in Kohima on Friday evening.
Kohima, January 24 (MExN): Renowned Naga singer Methaneilie Jutakhrie, popularly known as the ‘Kishore Kumar of the Northeast’, was conferred the O.N.E. (Our North East) India Award 2026 at a ceremony in Kohima on Friday evening.
The award, presented by the organisation ‘My Home India’, was given in recognition of Jutakhrie’s lifelong contribution to society through music.
The veteran singer was honoured for his songs, written and performed against corruption, social evils, and substance abuse, which have profoundly influenced Naga society. The organisers stated that through his art, he has consistently promoted national pride and positive social change.
The ceremony was held at the Kohima Village Council Hall with Nagaland’s Minister for Tourism & Higher Education, Temjen Imna Along, as the chief guest.
“My Home India has been serving the people of the North East consistently for the last 20 years. Today’s event reflects the growing importance of the North East in the national narrative,” Along said in his address.
Sunil Deodhar, Founder of My Home India and conceptualiser of the award, said the organisation has been working with commitment towards national integration. “Artists like Methaneilie Jutakhrie play a crucial role in strengthening this emotional and cultural integration,” he said.
Dr Kekhriehulie Yhome, Advisor for School Education & SCERT, Government of Nagaland, who attended as the guest of honour, remarked that culture and music are powerful instruments of social transformation.
Expressing his gratitude, Jutakhrie said, “I am deeply honoured and grateful to My Home India for this recognition. Music has always been my way of serving society and spreading positive values.”
The event was also attended by the Kohima Village Council Chairman and other community leaders, who praised the singer’s journey and the role of culture in strengthening social values and national integration.
