Mokokchung (MExN): Concerned about the growing numbers of drop-outs in Mokokchung Town, four like minded intellectuals have gone ahead and set up a self-help group known as “Vision Self-Help Group”(VSHG).

Their objective is to facilitate and return the time-honored traditional respect for ‘Dignity in Labor’. The quartet also aims to reach out to students who cannot pursue education due to financial constraints.

They are of the belief that many drop-outs including students who are not in a position to receive parental support are compelled by circumstances to indulge in activities detrimental to the society.

According to them, these young people, if organized, motivated and trained, can learn to stand on their feet economically and thus be an asset to the family and society at large, instead of the being a part of the problem.

The VSHG’s primary function is to recruit, motivate and train students and dropouts to act as volunteers of the VSHG and assist in distributing The Morung Express on commission basis.

The VSHG will also explore other avenues to facilitate employment opportunity to the targeted group in commensurate with their abilities and aptitude.

The VSHG is the official distributor of The Morung Express in Mokokchung Town.

VSHG has recruited 10 volunteers so far.
