Mexican swimmers dance underwater to Akshay’s ‘Aila Re Aila’ at Rio Olympics

Mexican synchronised swimming pair Karem Achach and Nuria Diosdado executed balletic underwater moves for Bollywood song ‘Aila Re Aila’ from Akshay Kumar’s 2010 comedy drama ‘Khatta Meetha’ at a Rio Olympics event.   Dressed in colourful sequin swimwear, the two wowed the judges and spectators by performing upside down splits, ballet and underwater swirls apart from other impressive moves in their 2.20-minute routine. The pair earned an impressive 170.6601 points for their performance and ability to keep up with the upbeat dance number.

  Athletes train as many as 10 hours per day to execute routines that blend swim moves like the backstroke with choreographed routines that include lifts and backflips - all without ever touching the bottom of the pool.
