Dimapur, July 10 (MExN): MGM College organised a Faculty Development Workshop on "Academic Writing and AI Tools in Research" on Friday to strengthen research capabilities and promote the ethical use of artificial intelligence in academic work.

The workshop, held at the college auditorium, was attended by all faculty members, including Principal Dr R K Behera and Administrator Fr Shaiju Philip. The first session, on "Writing Research Articles for Publication", was conducted by Dr Sangeeta Kumari, Assistant Professor in the Department of Education. She discussed the key components of writing quality research papers, publication ethics, manuscript preparation, journal selection and strategies for publishing in reputed peer-reviewed journals, including Scopus-indexed journals.

The second session, on "Academic Writing and AI Tools in Research", was led by IQAC Coordinator and Assistant Professor of English Jemsungba Walling. He demonstrated the effective and ethical use of artificial intelligence tools in academic writing and research, highlighting responsible AI practices, literature review, citation management, research productivity and the importance of maintaining academic integrity.

Both sessions were interactive and concluded with question-and-answer sessions during which faculty members discussed research-related issues and shared their experiences.

Addressing the participants, Dr Behera encouraged faculty members to strengthen the institution's research culture by publishing regularly in quality journals and making responsible use of emerging AI technologies to enhance teaching, learning and research.
