MGNCRE conducts Master Trainers’ Development Programme on Nai Talim

  Kohima, November 5 (MExN): An intensive five-day Master Trainers’ Development Programme (MTDP) was organised by Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education (MGNCRE), Ministry of Human Resource Development, GoI in collaboration with SCERT, Kohima, from October 22 to 26.   A total of 24 participants including DIETs faculty and SCERT staff attended the training programme.   The MTDP workshop was based on four basic principles viz. experiential learning, Nai Talim (new education), work education and community engagement.   NC Kikon, Joint Director SCERT while inaugurating the first day of MTDP appealed to all participants to give their best effort in the workshop and shared how this workshop on Nai Talim will help and strengthen the core value of education. She thanked the Chairman MGNCRE Dr WG Prasanna Kumar and all the team for bringing this opportunity and platform to SCERT.   K Ashwin Kumar gave a short introduction on Gandhiji’s Nai Talim. He taught about the importance of self-respect of any labour or work. “Dignity of labour is the integral part and principle of Gandhi’s Nai Talim. Our present education system lack activity based learning,’ he also observed. He encouraged to instill learning by participation and said ‘Learn to do, do to learn’ which is the motive of Nai Talim. He later spoke on the 3H (Head, Heart and Hand) regarding when, what, where, why, how, to be implement in the academic curriculum   Ashwin took the session on Nai Talim and discussed on Integrated education; knowledge sharing; the 3h-head, heart and hand concept; four pillars of Nai Talim; the 3 D’s- discipline, dedication and determination; gender equality; safety measures; dignity of labor; sustainable development goals; and community engagement.   On the second day, Ashwin spoke about how community should take claim of their rights for transparency and making their representative accountable in every task they undertake. He stated that work and knowledge are not separate as per Nai Talim. As it goes hand in hand with work education. He also introduced 3H – Humility, Humour and Humanity.   The team, on the third day visited Kohima district DIET at Chiechama, interacted with the DIET Principal and conducted various practical learning methods. On the fourth day, Ashwin spoke on the issue of alcoholism in Nagaland and held a discussion with the participants on its impact on students and other factors.   The team later, visited the government schools and interacted with the head master.   Nutsulu Rhakho, Program Coordinator, MGNCRE in a press release stated the participants opined that Nai Talim is a new concept to them which involve participatory in every activity. This strengthens them to understand that work and knowledge are not separate and this approach will ensure the core value of education.
