MGOS Church celebrates feast day

DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 8 (MExN): On the feast day of the patron Saint Gregorious of Parumala, MGOS Church felicitated meritorious students of the 2020 batch on November 8. 

The Sunday morning prayer was followed by celebration of Holy Mass by Vicar,  Fr Dr PS Varghese. 

He highlighted the life of the first Indian Saint of the 19th century who was the Bishop of the Indian Orthodox Church, “led a saintly life, was taken to heavenly abode on November 2, 1902.” His tomb is at Parumala, a world famous pilgrim centre of the Eastern Orthodox Church. After being declared as a saint in 1952, across the country in his name, churches and institutions have been established.  

In Dimapur, MGOS church was established in 1982, followed by MGMHSS in 1985 and MGM College in 2016. Usually MGOS Church feast is a feast of all the Malayalee community of Dimapur. This year due to the pandemic, a gathering was avoided and only limited number of devotees attended the feast service. 

For the felicitation program, teachers’ representatives of MGM College and MGMHSS were called along with the toppers.  A small program was conducted immediately after the church service.

Fr Dr PS Varghese welcomed the guests. Col Vijay Abraham felicitated Jamnaj Aktar, 10th rank holder HSLC, 2020 batch and Sujal Kumar, Class 12 commerce, and subject topper.

KC Varghese, senior member and executive committee member of MGMHSS felicitated Class 10 subject teachers for their continuous effort in securing 100% result in the last batch. 

KC Mathews, treasurer of MGM College felicitated toppers of 2017-2020 BA first batch students, who secured CGPA 6 and above in the university exams recently concluded.  

The program ended by a vote of thanks by B. Paul, Head Master, MGMHSS followed by benediction and love feast.
