The final match of the 12th edition of the Luke Sasong Memorial Volleyball Trophy 2022, which was organised by the Luke Sasong Sporting Association under the aegis of the Mangmetong Students' Union, took place on Friday at the Multipurpose Sports Complex Mokokchung, with MH-10, Kohima defeating Changtongya Volleyball Association 'A'.

Luke Sasong and stated that what he could achieve in 27 years of his life is something one should learn a lesson and emulate from. Stressing on the tournaments theme, “Unity through sports,” the speaker went on to urge the players to play a fair game while participating in the sport as such unity can prevail. 

In the final match of the tournament, was played between seasoned rivals MH-10, Kohima and Changtongya Volleyball Association (CVA) ‘A' who had previously contested in the finals of the 15th Imchaba Memorial Open Volleyball Trophy concluded recently on September 2022 where the former won.

MH-10 proved their supremacy in the game yet again by beating CVA 18-25/19-25/25-20/21-25. In the first set of the best of five final match, the first two sets ended with little to no competition from CVA, however, CVA’s offensive strikes led them to a win in the third set. In a do or die fourth set for CVA, they could not seize any opportunity against the champions who went all out performance and won the fourth set to become the champions of the tournament. 

The champions of the tournament MH-10 were presented with certificates and monetary award of rupees 70,000 while runners up Changtongya Volleyball Association 'A' were presented with certificates and monetary award of rupees 40,000. The losing semifinalists' Kumlong Sporting Association ‘A' and Longkhum Students Union were presented with certificates and monetary awards of rupees 10,000 each. 

Individual prizes during the tournament were : Best Setter Tongpangsunep from MH-10, Best Spiker- Reshitemjen from MH-10 and Man of the tournament-Imkongsanen from Changtongya Volleyball Association ‘A'.
