MH-10 wins Imonungba Memorial Nagaland Open Volleyball Trophy

MH-10 Kohima, after falling short in the final of the inaugural edition, emerged victorious in the 2nd Imonungba Memorial Nagaland Open Volleyball Trophy, defeating Blind Spiker Dimapur in straight sets. The final match, held this evening at Public Ground, Changtongya Town, saw MH-10 dominate with scores of 25-20, 25-23, and 25-23.

A powerhouse in Nagaland's volleyball circuit, MH-10 lifted the championship trophy and bagged a cash prize of Rs 90,000 along with a citation. Runners-up Blind Spiker received Rs 50,000 and a citation for their efforts.

In the semi-finals, MH-10 overcame their traditional rivals, the Changtongya Volleyball Association (CVA), while Blind Spiker defeated Longsa Sporting Club (LSC). The losing semi-finalists were awarded Rs 15,000 each.

Individual honours were also distributed, with MH-10’s Watineken adjudged the ‘Best Spiker,’ and his teammate Tongpangsunep receiving the ‘Best Setter’ award. CVA’s Sentiakum was declared the ‘Best Libero,’ while Ahika Yeptho of Blind Spiker was named the Player of the Tournament. Each individual award carried a cash prize of Rs 5,000.

The closing function was graced by Limanenla, Joint Secretary, Government of Nagaland, who officially declared the grand finale open.

The tournament was organised by the Changtongya Volleyball Association (CVA) and powered by Lenjeter, a monthly Ao magazine.
