MHBHSS honours students, welcomes freshers

KOHIMA, JUNE 19 (MExN): Minister’s Hill Baptist Higher Secondary School (MHBHSS), Kohima honoured its students who succeeded in the HSLC and HSSLC examinations 2016 and also welcomed new students (Fresher’s Meet) in a joint programme held on June 15 at Minister’s Hill Baptist Church (MHBC).  

During the event, three different awards – Award to the 3rd Topper, HSSLC 2016, Tsito Memorial Award, and Kanato Memorial Award – were given to three meritorious students. Limeka Zhimo received a memento and a cash award of Rs.10,000 for securing the 3rd rank among the toppers with a percentage of 87.60% in the HSSLC, 2016, informed a press release. The Tsito Memorial Award, which was introduced to honour and remember a late student, Tsito, to encourage and motivate students in the HSLC examinations, was bagged by Kunal Gupta, who secured 92.67%. The Kanato Memorial Award, instituted for the best student of HSLC from their school, based on the overall performance of the student went to K. Moba for his outstanding performance in all the aspects.

In her speech, the Principal of MHBHSS, Aleü Usou noted that winners in life are individuals who refuse to quit or give up when all others have washed their nets and gone home. Stating that they are relentless and resolute in their pursuit, she said that in order to overcome the storms of life, one must be ready to stand on the promises of God no matter how long it takes. She encouraged the students to take all of their experiences in good faith, realizing that their weaknesses, imperfection, and frailty enables God to supplement their willing endeavours.  

The event was also marked by “Teachers Distinctive Performance”, wherein subject teachers were acknowledged. This was in salutation of the contribution of every teacher that enabled their successful students to achieve distinctive marks in different subjects.  

Tepusaho Tase, Sr. Pastor, MHBC said a prayer for the freshers. A special song was also presented by the Freshers of 2016. Earlier, the introduction to the awards was given by Sony Thapa and ‘Teachers Distinctive Performance’ by the Headmaster.
