Minister Azo calls for proper maintenance of Agri link roads

Minister for Agriculture, Printing and Stationary Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu today called for the proper maintenance of agriculture link roads in the state.

Inaugurating the Leru Agri-Link road and RCC bridge here this morning, the minister called upon the people to recognize the value of agriculture link roads and make the best use of it, which he said will play a key role in uplifting the economy of the state.
The rapid progress of economy solely depends on viable road conditions, the minister asserted, adding that everything comes through a good road communication.

Dwelling on the “Year of Farmers,” the minister challenged the people to come forward and actively involve themselves for the effective implementation of various schemes and programmes and reap the benefit.

Also informing that various machineries and equipment are being extended to the villagers at a subsidized rate by the agriculture department, Azo asked the people to avail such facilities.

Referring to Leru Agri Link road, Azo was hopeful that it would certainly boost the economy and largely benefit the people.

Towards the proper maintenance of the Leru Agri Link road, the minister also committed to provide fund during 2007-08.

Azo also acknowledged T. Khel for successful implementation of the developmental works, adding that it has earned a good name and made the department proud as well. Azo also donated Rs. 50,000 towards the community feast on the day.

Additional Secretary Agriculture Milenla, President APO Mhiesizokho Zinyu, Joint Director Agriculture Z. Kikon, Joint Director Agriculture, C Mozhui, DAO Kohima, AYO President Kezhazer, Er. Dr. Vikuotuolie Suohu, Er. Vekho Swuro, Er. Kughaho and several other dignitaries also graced the occasion.

The District Agriculture Officer, Kohima also assured to provide 60 bags of potato seedlings to T. Khel. 

The function was chaired by K. Neibou Sekhose, Convenor organizing committee. Kevimese Suohu, Pastor Nagabazar Baptist Church said a prayer while K. Neingunyu

Sekhose, President T. Khel Union delivered the welcome address. Vote of thanks was delivered by Shurho-o Solo, Vice President, T. Khel Union. 

Folk song, tug of war and community feast also marked the occasion.
