Minister Bashangmongba graces Hok-Ah festival in Langnok village

Minister of Housing and Mechanical Engineering, P Bashangmongba Chang extending greetings at Hok-Ah festival in Langnok village in Noklak District, lauded the Nokhu Range Public Organization (NRPO) for maintaining peace and unity. 

He encouraged them to serve as torchbearers of these values for future generations. Chang expressed concerns about the impact of corruption on “Eastern society” and urged the NRPO to set an exemplary standard for their community and the Eastern Nagas. He also noted that the Khiamniungan tribe’s patience is a positive attribute and an example for others.

Stating that Noklak is now a district, Chang emphasised the importance of maintaining good relationships not only with politicians but also with the district administration. He also advocated for self-reliance through skill development programs, pointing out the limited availability of government jobs. Recognizing the community's craftsmanship, he urged the people of the region to refine and enhance their skills.

Khiamniungan Students’ Union, President Shangchiu highlighted that harvest is not only associated with agriculture but with progress in all aspects of life. He also noted that the festival should be a time of thanksgiving to God.

Former president of NRSU, Talamong, urged the people to embrace the Hok-Ah blessings through peace and unity. He encouraged leaders of various organizations to inspire the younger generation through their exemplary lives.

EAC Nokhu HQ, Menlom Phom, in his speech, emphasised the importance of viewing the day of celebration as a reflection of hard work, rather than just a festive occasion. He encouraged the gathering to learn from experienced individuals and adapt to changes. Additionally, he stressed the sustainable and judicious use of natural resources while highlighting the need for development in the district.

Earlier, the programme was chaired by S Chongtin and Henkong, with an invocation by S Kholi, Pastor of Choklangan Baptist Church, a welcome address by Pengchang, VCC of Langnok, a special number by Choklangan Public Organization (Folk Fusion), and the benediction by Tanghiu, Pastor of Aniangan Baptist Church.
