Minister inspects water supply works in Mon

Dimapur, March 5 (MExN): Minister for Public Health Engineering, Dr. Ngangshi K. Ao, accompanied by his wife, daughter and senior officials of the department took a two- day tour of Mon district, on March 3 and 4.
According to a press note, the minister said that he is keen to know the department’s activities in the district and the status of the water supply in the district. He wanted to ascertain that the ongoing water supply works in the district are implemented properly. On March 3, on reaching the district capital, he inspected the ongoing works of water supply to Totok villages, which has a main line length of 38 kilometers. The main pipe line passes through Aboi town, to which he went and had a personal inspection of the works. After the inspection of the field works, he interacted with the village authorities and the villagers of Totok.  
The villagers expressed profound happiness that a minister has personally inspected the works of water supply to their village and that such a visit by a minister is a very rare occasion and that it is an honour for them that a minister has come to their village. On the other hand, the minister appraised the villagers about the importance of water for human sustenance and solicited the cooperation of the villagers in implementing the scheme. He assured the villagers that all possible efforts are being made to complete the scheme at the earliest.
On the second day, the minister inspected the works of water supply to Tang village, where the local MLA, Lanpha Konyak, also arrived to join the Minister. The minister was also accompanied by the chief 'Angh' of the village, the deputy 'Angh' and the village authorities. After the inspection, the minister had an interaction with the villagers. The local MLA expressed his delight that a minister has come to his constituency which is an honour for all. The minister appreciated the enthusiasm and cooperation of the villagers to the department in the implementation of the ongoing scheme. The minster further assured the villagers that all efforts are being made to complete the works as soon as possible. After lunch with the Tang villagers, the minister proceeded to Mon town where he also inspected the Water Treatment Plant, for Mon town and the PHE Store at Mon town. He assured the department officials that he would make arrangements to provide fund for construction of brick wall fencing for the store.
Earlier, the minister and the chief engineer had an interaction with the department officials, on March 4 at the circuit house, Mon, to know the grievances of the department officials. He requested the department officials to be sincere in their duty and also to pay particular attention to water fee collection, so as to enhance the revenue earning of the state.
