Minister for planning & coordination and land revenue Neiba Kronu today took over charge as president of the Nagaland Chess Association (NCA).
In his acceptance speech, Kronu expressed his keenness and love for the sports, the nature and pace at which the game have progressed since his early playing days. He also assured to bring into light the much needed coaching and training facilities for young players with the target being the school children.
He said that the importance of Chess can be seen from the fact that Europian countries has taken up Chess as a part of the curriculum in all the educational institutes.
Indian states such as Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh.. etc have already made Chess a compulsory component of the Academic Curriculum.
Other new team of NCA officer bearers for the tenure 2018-21 include; vice president- Mughaho Awomi and Visanyiizo Kuotsu, honorary secretary - Hekugha Yeputhomi, joint secretary- Vekukho Soho, Kevilekho Zumvu and Kiyaselie Mere, treasurer- Ropfiivilie Nagi.
The executive members will include P. Khezhie, K. Sukhamo, Sukhavi Achumi, Sede Nagi and S.I. Toshi.
