Miscreants numbering around 30 on Monday demolished daily market signboard at Thilixu Village Block – III while dedicatory prayer for the market was in progress. According to a FIR lodged by Thilixu Village Council Chairman, Nikhevi Yeputho, the miscreants were allegedly led by two brothers from Thilixu village – one of them a government servant. TVC alleged that the miscreants without any provocation suddenly came and forcefully destroyed the signboard and grievously injured one of those attending the inauguration programme.
“The gang members came fully prepared and armed in 10-15 vehicles loaded with dangerous weapons viz; knives, sticks and armed with deliberate intention to harass and assault the public ... the gang members also fired several rounds of gun,” the FIR stated.
TVC members said that the miscreants fled the scene before police arrived. The daily market was inaugurated by Thilixu Village Chairman, Nikhevi Yeputho.
TVC members said though the inaugural programme was disturbed towards the conclusion, yet the market is already inaugurated and ready for use.
