MLA Jacob Zhimomi calls to protect government’s properties
Chumukedima, May 18 (MExN): MLA and DAN Chairman, Jacob Zhimomi has taken serious note of miscreants ransacking the newly constructed and unoccupied staff and officers’ quarters and offices at new DC office complex at Chumukedima.
A press note received here stated that this was brought to the notice of Jacob Zhimomi, who represents Ghaspani-I A/C to the state legislative assembly by SDO (Civil) Chumukedima, Temjensangla, during an interactive meeting convened by the MLA with the departmental officials and party workers at Chumukedima Town Council office premises on Friday morning.
Condemning the act of looting, Jacob said it was moral responsibility of every citizen to protect the protect government’s properties which ultimately belongs to public and called upon law enforcing agency to pursue on the matter to nab the culprit(s) and also deploy police personnel to guard the property. SDO (Civil) Chumukedima apprised the MLA about electric and other appliances being stolen from the new DC office complex. During the meeting, other departmental officials also shared with the MLA the infrastructural and technical difficulties being faced by various departments under Chumukedima circle, whose administration covers villages and towns not only under Ghaspani-I A/C alone but Dimapur-III A/C and Ghaspani-II A/C as well.
Representing police department, an official from Diphupar Police station said Diphupar PS is covering more than 88 villages, which is very difficult task for Diphupar PS police personnel and therefore urged the MLA to take up the matter for opening of police station at Chumukedima including women police and traffic cell at Diphupar PS. Official of electrical department stated that area itself being so vast it is difficult to cover all the villages and towns with inadequate manpower. The official urged the MLA to take up the matter at higher level to increase manpower of the department.
Others who spoke at the meeting including SDO (civil) Chumukedima stated urged the Jacob to give priority for planned drainage and sewerage system for Chumukedima town.
