Dimapur, August 10 (MExN): The Rising People’s Party (RPP) on Tuesday alleged that the 300 bedded COVID hospital at CIHSR which is under construction is ‘mired in corruption’.
The RPP said that after having inspected the site on August 7, “…there is absolutely no doubt that the construction of the COVID hospital is mired in corruption” as pointed out earlier by MLA Imkong L Imchen and the NPF Legislature Party (NPFLP).
“Any decent construction engineer can certify that the civil construction of a 2 (two) storied, 45,000 sq ft building in Dimapur can be done easily within 10 Cr,” the RPP stated, adding that, with the Rs 30 cr sanctioned amount, the government could have constructed at least two 300 bedded hospitals, with at least one hospital provisioned for eastern Nagaland.
It reiterated pertinent points raised by MLA Imkong L Imchen which included questions on why tender was not floated for the construction of the COVID hospital and whether Glocal Healthcare is involved in the construction of the hospital. “According to its website, Glocal Healthcare is many things but not a construction firm,” RPP observed.
It further questioned under which expenditure head the construction of the hospital is being sourced and why the project was “conceived and implemented in a hush-hush manner” without discussion in the Cabinet.
The RPP sought immediate clarification on these points from the PDA government and requested the NPF party to follow up the issue from within the government since it was the first to raise the issue.
