‘The Government has turned a blind eye to the pathetic infrastructure,” party alleges
Dimapur, November 12 (MExN): The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Nagaland State Unit organized a social work under the theme ‘Mission Potholes’ on November 11 from ARTC junction till 2 1/2 Mile junction here.
Volunteers from State level, Youth wing, Women wing, Minority wing and Dimapur district unit of the party participated in the social work, which was carried out under the leadership of AAP State Convener Dr. S Amos Lkr, informed a press release from AAP Media Cell.
Acknowledging that AAP does not have the resources nor is it in the capacity of the AAP to provide good roads at the moment, the release stated it is the prerogative of the State government to provide quality roads.
“However it is of great dismay that the Government has turned a blind eye to the pathetic infrastructure and the hue and cry of the common people has fallen on deaf ears,” it lamented.
The party maintained that the Potholes Mission was carried out neither for publicity nor to gain political mileage, but to create awareness among the people that “our inherent rights are being compromised and that the public should wake up and demand what is rightfully ours.”
During the social work which started around 8:00 am and continued till late in the evening, the team filled up almost all the potholes “some even as deep as 10 inches which poses grave threat to the commuters especially the two wheelers,” the release added. It was accompanied by poster campaign along the National Highway.
The party said it will continue to work for the people and such works will be carried out even in the near future.
