Mizoram govt to extend Rs 2 crore to flood ravaged Kerala

Aizawl, August 21 (NNN): The Mizoram government has assured a relief aid of Rs 2 crore to flood ravaged Kerala, an official statement said on Tuesday.   Mizoram Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla on Tuesday wrote to his Kerala counterpart, Pinarayi Vijayan expressing his solidarity with the people of Kerala and informed that the Mizoram government is making a contribution of Rs 2 crore towards disaster relief efforts, the statement said.   “The government of Mizoram has decided to extend financial aid to the tune of Rs 2 crore to the government of Kerala as a token of contribution and measure of our solidarity to the people of Kerala,” Lal Thanhawla said in his letter.   In a separate letter, Lal Thanhawla also informed Vijayan that all 34 MLAs of the ruling Indian National Congress (INC) in the state assembly have also decided to contribute Rs 1 lakh each, totaling to Rs 34 lakh, in the hope that it may alleviate a small portion of the immense hardships currently being faced by the people of Kerala.
