Mizoram to harvest bamboo

Aizawl, January 31 (NNN): In its aim to harvest bountiful bamboo, the Bamboo Development Agency in collaboration with entrepreneurs has established bamboo chipping industries across the state. Out of the proposed 9 bamboo chipping industries established, 4 are ready to produce chipped bamboo. Machines were also installed in each of the four industries to harvest bamboo.
The four bamboo chipping units are Sena Bamboo Chipping Unit, Bairabi; Daia Bamboo Chipping Unit, Dapchhuah; Pandsons Bamboo Chipping Unit, Chuhvel and S.K. Bamboo Chipping Unit, Chhingchhi. In addition, another 5 units - Maubuang, Tuirini, Hortoki, Muallungthu leh Bungthuam Unit are almost ready, sources said today. Sources further revealed that bamboo chip will be sold to Cachar Paper Mill at Panchgram in Southern Assam and to the Nitol-Niloy Group, Bangladesh after a MoU is signed. Bamboo Development Agency, Mizoram has done an examplary initiatives for harvesting bamboo and helping the poor people economically.
The main objective of the agency is to encourage, start, organize, carry on, assist, lease, develop and regulate resources, plantation, utilization, research and development of bamboo and perform such functions as the Government may prescribe from time to time.
