Mizoram: Security beefed up ahead of 4 NE Chief Ministers, Union Home Minister's meet

  AIZAWL, JUNE 11 (NNN): Security has been beefed up in Mizoram ahead of Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh’s visit to the state where he will hold meeting with the Chief Ministers of Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh which border Myanmar.   The Union Home Minister will arrive in Aizawl on Monday to review security situation along the Indo-Myanmar border. He will be accompanied by Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju and other officials.   Official sources said that more security personnel would be deployed in busy places in the state capital Aizawl and other parts of the state as part of the security measures.   On his arrival, Rajnath Singh along with Rijiju will hold meeting with Chief Ministers of the four states on Monday .   State home department officials said that Rajnath Singh will also visit Parva village in Lawngtlai district and other Myanmar border areas by BSF helicopter.   Other officials including the Union Home Secretary, the Internal Security Secretary, the Border Management Secretary, the Joint Secretary of Home Ministry in-charge of Northeast and Home Ministers, Home Secretaries and police chiefs of the four Northeastern states are expected to take part in the meet.   The Union Home Minister will leave for New Delhi on Tuesday.   Meanwhile, Mizoram police officials have asked people especially vehicle drivers to be careful and avoid congestion along the busy road between Thuampui helipad and Raj Bhavan in Aizawl during the Home Minister’s visit. All traffic officials were also asked to remain round the clock vigil during his stay in Aizawl.   The four North East states - Arunachal Pradesh (520 km), Manipur (398 km), Nagaland (215 km) and Mizoram (510 km) - share the 1,643-km mountainous border with Myanmar.
