Aizawl, January 15 (NNN): Out of Rs. 19,625.21 lakhs approved by the Central Government for Mizoram Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), only Rs. 4318.83 lakhs has been released so far. Because of this, SSA employees in the State have not been paid their salary since August 2016. This was highlighted during the meeting between Parliamentary Secretary Joseph Lalhimpuia and SSA Employees’ Association of Mizoram (SEAM) leaders on Friday afternoon. The meeting learnt of the progress made so far in the initiatives taken by Mizoram government regarding SSA employees not getting their salary and mention was made that payment of salary to SSA employees is expected soon. Meanwhile, Mizo National Front (MNF), the main opposition, on Saturday slammed the ruling Congress government and accused it of holding salaries meant for the SSA teachers. MNF legislator Lalruatkima told reporters during a press conference here on Saturday that teachers working under Mizoram SSA were not paid for a long time under Congress government. He said that teachers were paid thrice in a year for 3-4 months and they were not being paid on time.
