Mkg ADC launches 1st Phase IPPI

Mokokchung, January 23 (MExN): The First phase of Intensive Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) was successfully launched in Mokokchung on Sunday, January 23, 2011 at Imlong Place with ADC & MMC Administrator, Mokokchung R. Asenla Keitzar administering the first polio drops. This first phase of IPPI will be carried out till January 25; during this two days, IPPI volunteers would be conducting house to house visit covering both urban and rural areas in the district.
Meanwhile, speaking at the formal function before the launch of the IPPI programmes, R Asenla Keitzar reiterate the slogan of the IPPI programme this year - by giving two drops of polio we are saving the life of our future generation and our society. in this connection, Keitzar urged the parents to make sure that their children receive the polio drops.
The formal programme was chaired by Dr Limatula Aier DIO Mokokchung while Youth Evangelist MTBA, Temnameren invoked God’s presence in the programme.  .
Sources revealed that under the supervision of the District Task Force a total number of 200 polio booths were set up in different areas under Mokokchung district. This first phase of the IPPI programme was carried out successfully in Mokokchung town through the active support of different groups and agencies - the Health Workers, Indian Red Cross Society of Mokokchung, Rotary Club of Mokokchung, youth volunteers from the different churches, ASHAs, MSS members, Anganwadi Workers, VHCs and Ward/Village Chairmen.
The State observer – Dr N Meren (Jt Director, Directorate of H & FW); Chief Medical Officer, Mokokchung Dr N Bendang Jamir his subordinate Dy CMO, Dr SS Akaba and other medical officers in the district carried out supervisions in the different booths.
