Mokokchung, October 12 (DIPR): Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung, Sushil Kumar Patel has issued an order stating that vehicles having more than six wheels and those with a tonnage of more than 12 ton are not allowed to ply on National Highway 702 D (Mokokchung – Mariani road) as the road condition is in a deplorable condition. The order stated that the Mokokchung – Mariani road, one of the two major roads that connect Assam is not only the lifeline for Mokokchung but also for Tuensang, Longleng and parts of Zunheboto and Wokha districts. The condition of the road has worsened due to incessant monsoon rains. The order directed police to strictly comply with the directives and penalize defaulters as per the provision of the law. The order will remain in force/valid till October 31. The order was issued based on the request made by Executive Engineer PWD (NH) Mokokchung.
