Mokokchung, August 25 (MExN): A three-day training on Home Based Care for Young Child (HBYC) block level training of trainers for GNM, CHO, DCM and BAC was held at the Conference Hall of the Chief Medical Officers Office from August 23 to 25.
HBYC aims to improve the nutritional status of young Children, ensure proper growth, early childhood development, prevent childhood illness such as diarrhea and Pneumonia and deaths resulting from them, stated a press release.
The resource persons were Chubala Pongen, Sr PM, Benjungtoshi PM from DoHFW Kohima, Sentirenla Longchar, Consultant and Chubakatila, GNM from NUHM.
The participants were trained on introduction to Poshan Abhiyan and HBYC, addressing social vulnerability to improve coverage of children under HBYC, orientation on New MCP Card, Roles and responsibility of ASHA, AWW, and ANM in HBYC.
In a power point presentation, Chubala Pongen highlighted the status of Home based New Born Care (HBNC) in Mokokchung district. She also stated that HBYC is rolled out as an extension of the HBNC which is currently implemented across the country.
Dr Limatula Aier, CMO Mokokchung while delivering the welcome address urged the participants to effectively implement the knowledge acquired from the training and encouraged for an interactive and productive training. She thanked the resource person Chubala Pongen, Senior Programme Manager and Benjungtoshi, Programme Manager from the Directorate of Health and Family Welfare (DoHFW), Kohima for taking the initiative to train the health workers.
