MOKOKCHUNG, JANUARY 17 (MExN): The bodies of two individuals who had been reported missing on January 10 were discovered hanging from a tree in a jungle area near Alempang Ward in Mokokchung town on January 17.
According to police, a missing persons report was filed on the night of January 10. A look-out notice was immediately issued at all police stations and gates the same evening. Despite extensive efforts, no significant clues were uncovered through mobile phone data, including CDR analysis, tower locations, and bank transaction records. The mobile phones of both individuals had been switched off since their disappearance, the police said.
Following the recovery, an inquest into the deaths was conducted in the presence of the District Administration and other relevant witnesses. Authorities have stated that no foul play is suspected at this time. Following the refusal of a post-mortem by the families, the bodies were handed over to the relatives for further arrangements. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding their deaths is still ongoing.
