‘Media fraternity should take extra care in future’
Dimapur, June 11 (MExN): The Maram Students’ Union (MKS) has condemned the Manipur Government in issuing arrest warrant, wanted lists and fixing of rewards to the leaders of ANSAM and UNC. The Union in a condemnation note stated that the measures adopted by the Manipur Government is challenging and threatening the “dignified office of ANSAM and UNC who represents the Naga community.”
It also added that the government’s approach is further adding fuel to the situation, which will worsen the situation. It also retorted that some sections of the media seem to have blown out of proportion the objectives of ASAM and taken “u-turn to suit the interest of certain of certain community” for which it fails to “comprehend the wisdom of the media fraternity.”
It further stated: “…by misleading and misinforming and reporting propaganda, the truth becomes the first casualty. The student body takes serious note as published in some dailies those disrespectful language – 21st Century Judas, Acting Presidents referring to the incumbent presidents of ANSAM and UNC who have the full people’s mandate in leading the Nagas. It is requested to the media fraternity to take extra care in future.”
It also stressed that the media have a significant role and formulating public opinion to project the truth.
