
Shillong, July 16 (NNN): Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Tuesday met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in New Delhi and sought additional funds for development projects. He was accompanied by Meghalaya Tourism and Excise Minister, Metbah Lyngdoh.
According to an official source, during the meeting, the CM informed the overall financial position of the State and measures adopted by the State government to increase its revenue share. The chief minister requested the Union Finance Minister for sanctioning of additional funds for different development projects. He also apprised the Finance Minister on the upcoming National Games 2022 and has requested for centre’s support.
On Monday, Conrad had a meeting with the Chairman of the 15th Finance Commission, NK Singh in the national capital wherein the former once again highlighted the efforts being made by the State Government to fast track development works in the key sectors of Human Development, Primary Sector, Infrastructure Development and Enterprise Development. The official source said that "he submitted a short supplementary memorandum" to the Chairman of the Finance Commission highlighting four key projects for the State and requesting assistance to the tune of Rs. 4,340 Crore for implementation of the projects during the 2020-25 period. The four projects are Conduct of the 39th edition of the National Games in 2022.
