Imphal, August 17 (NNN): Proscribed Manipur Naga People’s Front (MNPF) has said today that in order to "strengthen the development in the hill areas, particularly in the "Naga areas" of Manipur, the outfit will start checking on the development works execution by the contractors.
"Through newspapers, it is informed to all the general public to lodge complain to the MNPF for the works which are neglected by the contractors," it urged in a press statement today.
According to the underground outfit, for the last 20 years, 90% of the development works of the hill areas, particularly in the Naga areas, have been "spoiled by NSCN (IM)".
"It is very unfortunate on the part of the Manipur Government accepting the NSCN (IM) recommendations to award any work order. It is questionable, that the government of Manipur is under NSCN (IM)," the outfit also said.
It then warned the contractors not to take any NSCN (IM) recommendation to award the work agency. "Any contractor who approach or award the work order through the NSCN (IM) recommendation will be deal with serious punishment," the statement added.
The MNPF then appealed to all the civil societies organizations and the general public "not to misunderstand when MNPF takes action" on such contractors.
