
Kohima, January 27 (MExN): A mock demonstration on Emergency Response System by the Police department was conducted on the January 26 at the Secretariat Plaza, Kohima.
The demonstration depicted a scene where a scuffle took place between a rouge customer and a shopkeeper, when a passerby, who witnessed the scene makes a distress call to 112, stated a DIPR press release. The demonstration showed how the personnel and the system got activated due to the report by the call and showed the coordination, function and action that took place by the Mobile Unit which was set up under the ERSS.
The ERSS is a Pan-India single number (112) based on emergency response system for citizens requiring emergency assistance from the police, fire & emergency service, medical, child and women etc. Presently, ERSS control room called PSAP (Public Safety Answering Point) is manned by the NPTO staff of Nagaland Police and personnel of the Nagaland Fire & Emergency services, and medical, child & women, and other emergency services will also be integrated in the future. Currently, the District Coordination Centre (DCC) has been set up in three districts- Kohima, Dimapur and Mokokchung.
