Piphema, July 22 (MExN): Modern College, Piphema, held its 6th graduation day at the College Indoor Stadium on July 22. Altogether, there were 51 graduates, four Rank 1 university toppers from the departments of Economics, Education, English and Political Science, and two rank holders from the department of Education, stated a press release received here.

The event was graced by Dr Premila Swamy D, Regional Director, IGNOU Regional Centre-20, Kohima Nagaland, as the special guest. In her address, Dr Swamy reminded the graduating students that “while graduation marks the end of one chapter, it is only the beginning of a larger journey.” She urged the students to cultivate a strong vision for their future and to work diligently towards realising their dreams. Emphasising the importance of personal growth, she encouraged them to step out of their comfort zones, take bold risks, and embrace challenges as necessary steps on the path to success.

Dr Swamy also challenged the conventional notion that government jobs are the only viable career paths, urging students to explore diverse opportunities and to define success on their own terms. She urged the students to remain lifelong learners, to be self-aware, and to transform their weaknesses into strengths with determination and resilience.

The ceremony was compered by Visino Chüsi and Moalong Imchen, from B.A. 5th semester. The programme began with invocation by Akash Chettri, President, MCEU and welcome address from the College Principal, Dr Vitsou Yano. Mhasivonuo Kapfo, Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology, pronounced a prayer of blessing for the graduates.

Short speeches were delivered by the students, including Ricky Das, Rank 1 university toppers. A formal presentation was handed out by Keleseno Longkumer, Academic Officer, Modern College, along with various departments.
