Mokokchung, September 9 (DIPR): Moitree, a festival celebrating friendship between two neighbouring districts of Mokokchung (Nagaland) and Sivasagar (Assam) was held at Amguri Tea Estate Playground on September 8, organised by the Sivasagar district administration on behalf of the Govt. of Assam. This event is an initiative of both the two districts’ administration to foster unity, peace, friendship and human understanding through socio-cultural activities between the two places.
Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung, Sushil Kumar Patel was accompanied by Superintendent of Police Mokokchung, Aotemsu, Addl. Deputy Commissioner Tuli, Sentiwapang and other Govt. officials, while from Assam, DC of Sivasagar, Narayan Konwar, Superintendent of Police, Subudh Sonowal and other officials attended the daylong event.
The dignitaries expressed confidence that events like these will go a long way in strengthening the strong ties and trusted bonds between the people of Assam and Nagaland. They also expressed desire of peaceful co-existence as brothers and sisters by settling small differences through the spirit of friendship.
