Mokokchung: ABAM SQC pre-celebration demonstrates unity of Baptist community

The four-day Pre-Celebration of the ABAM Sesquicentennial (SQC), under the theme, “Tsüngrem Dang Sentsüwangshi” (To God be the Glory) was held at Mokokchung Town Baptist Church from September 8 to 11. The pre-celebration was organized by the MTBA Youth Department. 

The youths from the Konyak, Chang, Khiamniungan, Lotha, Sangtam, Yimkhiung, Sumi ‘A’, and Phom churches participated in the SQC Pre-Celebration, demonstrating the unity of the Baptist Community of Mokokchung, remembering the establishment of the MTBA Mother Church with church workers from all communities. Representatives from ABAM and people of different faiths also attended the programme.

Resource persons for this event included Dr Rev Chingmak Chang, founder, Eleutheros Christian Society, Rev Achu Chang, Executive Secretary, CBCA, Moatemjen, Nehemiah Vision Trust Dimapur, and Tali Angh. 

Workshops for the youth age groups of Crusaders and Crossroads were held under the topics “Community Development as Mission” and “Entrepreneurship,” respectively. The programme included worship nights led by Tali Angh and the MTBA Worship Team. Tali Angh additionally conducted a workshop on “Worship” with the praise and worship leaders from all the Youth Fellowships under the umbrella of MTBA Youth Department. 

A 10k Marathon Race was also held with the partnership of “Run Mokokchung” alongside Alcoholic Anonymous (AA) Group Mokokchung, Royal Enfield Mokokchung, traffic personnel and CMO Mokokchung, who provided the first-Aid for the event. Additionally, the celebrations also included a recreational day, where the youths participated in games that reinforced teamwork and character building.
