In a move against the illicit liquor trade, the Arkong Ward Council seized 25 cases of different brands of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) from a residence in Arkong Ward, Mokokchung, on February 21 last.

According to Ward Council members, the discovery was made following a report of a fight at a house in the colony. Upon investigation, the council members uncovered a hidden stash of illicit liquor, leading to the confiscation of approximately 25 cases, with an estimated value of Rs 60,000 – Rs 70,000.

The owner of the seized liquor was identified as one Subal Gurung. Following the intervention of the Ward Council, appropriate penalties were imposed on the defaulter as part of the council’s crackdown on illegal alcohol distribution, they said.

The seized liquor was disposed of on February 25, within the ward.
