Training on ‘wildlife law enforcement and counter wildlife trafficking and biodiversity conservation’ for forest and police personnel in Mokokchung culminated on March 8.

The two-day training on ‘wildlife law enforcement and counter wildlife trafficking and biodiversity conservation’ for forest and police personnel concluded at the Divisional Forest Office, Mokokchung. It was held on March 7 and 8 and jointly organised by Nagaland Forest Department, Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) India and, Nagaland State Biodiversity Board (NSBB).
The valedictory function was chaired by Dr Sentitula, IFS, DFO, Mokokchung. Tiarenba, Forester-I and Atangba, Sub-Inspector, Police department, shared their experiences and learning from the training.
Dev Prakash Bankhwal, IFS (Retired PCCF, Wildlife) and Chief Wildlife Warden, Assam and Team Leader WCS appreciated the enthusiasm of the participants in their learning and advised to continue learning.
Satya Prakash Tripathi, IFS (retired PCCF & HoFF), Nagaland and Chairman, State Biodiversity Board, Nagaland, in his speech recommended for continuation of such trainings related to combating of Wildlife crime and Biodiversity Conservation for Forest and Police Personnel and to reach out to the villages towards conservation efforts through Community Reserves.
The training has covered the following topics with hands on Wildlife trafficking, Wildlife Protection Act 1972, Protected areas, Community Reserves and Biodiversity Conservation, Enforcement of Wildlife and Biodiversity laws and Investigation of Wildlife crimes.
