Mokokchung: MTBAYD Football coaching clinic culminates

A three-week football coaching clinic organised by the Mokokchung Town Baptist Church Youth Department (MTBAYD) culminated here today at the Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung.

Commencing on June 19, the clinic catered to young football enthusiasts between the ages of 10 and 14, encompassing both boys and girls. The boys were divided into two categories: 10-12 years and 13-14 years, while a there was a separate category for girls.

The MTBAYD organised the clinic with an aim to nurture talents who could later make it big in the field of football. It was held under the aegis of the Mokokchung District Football Association (MDFA) as a mission beyond the pulpit.

A total of 134 young aspiring players enrolled for the clinic and 96 of them comprising 80 boys and 16 girls completed the coaching. 

The young players were mentored by 12 certified coaches.

Meanwhile, Colonel Rahul Gurung, Kirti Chakra, Commandant, 12th Assam Rifles graced the closing programme of the clinic on Saturday as the Guest of Honour.

In his address, he appreciated the parents for their support towards their children’s passion and emphasised on ‘discipline’ as the essence of a sports player.

Col Gurung also lauded the noble initiative of the MTBAYD for nurturing the young talents in the beautiful game of football.

The MTBAYD also expressed its gratitude to the 12th Assam Rifles led by the Commandant, MDFA, MTBA and the parents for making the clinic a great success.
