The Mon Circle Union Kohima (MCUK) today celebrated its silver jubilee with much pomp and zest at State Academy Hall, Kohima.
Gracing the celebration as the chief guest, W Chingang Konyak, Advisor for DUDA and Geology & Mining, Government of Nagaland, lauded the Union for the hard work and relentless dedication and encouraged them to keep up the same spirit to achieve another milestone.
He underscored the importance of preserving the culture and identity and encouraged the gathering to attach value to the same.
Stressing on the importance of language and culture, he said, Konyak culture is one of the best cultures in the state and urged the gathering to preserve “respect and unity” which has been handed down to the community from generations.
The Advisor also delved into his past experiences when life was different than today and pointed out the essence of hard work, dedication and consistency and urged the people of the present generation to be committed to one’s own goals and aims in life.
Encouraging the people to work hard towards the set goals, he said “Tomorrow is in your hand”. He also released MCUK jubilee souvenir

About formation of MCUK
Sharing the history and the formation of the union, MCUK founding member M Yashei Konyak, said the union began as a small family with few members who were mostly in the profession of home guards, labourers and students with few grade 3 & 4 government servants on June 7, 1998. with Late Naobo Nyasa was the president of the union.
He pointed the challenges and difficulties faced by MCUK since its inception and said, the strength of the union started to improve and grow from the year 2014.
He also acknowledged the people who has tremendously contributed in the growth of the union till date and hoped that it will continue to grow and be supported as it step into another new beginning.
Konyak Union Kohima, president Angnyei, Nagaland State Commission for Women chairperson W Nginyeih Konyak and Ngamjok Konyak, retired Secretary of Law & Justice Department also spoke on the occasion.
MCUK felicitates achievers
The achievers under MCUK were also felicitated during the celebration.
The achievers includes- Dr. Yungmei Arolim, HSLC Top 43 (2013), Veterinary Asst. Surgeon (Class 1 Gazetted) NPSC 2021, Tonpha Luklem, HSLC Top 19 (2017) and HSSLC Top 10 (2019), Chingong Naam, Nagaland Subject Topper (Computer Science- 2006), Akap T. Yinlunghu, HSLC Top 13 (Year 2019), Jeniffer Naam, 1st Bachelor of Music (Piano Major)- 2019 and Atoi Sarah Naam, 1st Bachelor of Journalism and Mass Communication (2017).
